  • Marsha's Place Living Learning Community 
    • Starting Fall 2023, live on-campus in a dorm that celebrates and centers LGBTQ+2S experiences and community! This new residential program is intended to provide an affirming, welcoming, and comfortable space for LGBTQ+2S (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Trans, Queer + Two-Spirit) residents to connect with other queer and trans students at the UA.
    • Through a partnership with LGBTQ+2S Resource Center, Marsha’s Place* residents can expect academic, social, and mental health support specific to queer and trans experiences and programs that center anti-racist, anti-colonial, and anti-oppression values. 
    • Located in Yavapai dorm. 
    • *Marsha’s Place refers to the prominent trans rights activist Marsha P. Johnson, a Black trans woman who participated in the Stonewall riots and was a co-founder of S.T.A.R. (Street Transgender Action Revolutionaries).

There are two all gender restrooms right next door to the LGBTQ+2S Resource Center on th 4th floor of the student union. 

For a complete map of All Gender Facilities at the University of Arizona, please visit the campus map (http://map.arizona.edu/), click on "Health & Safety," and filter for "All Gender Restrooms" (the purple toilet icon). For details on a specific location, click on the specific icon. Some locations will have multiple bathrooms, including sex specific restrooms. In these cases, you will see some black arrows in the upper right-hand corner of the dialogue box to scroll through.

Speech/Voice Pathology at the University of Arizona (Dept. of Speech, Language, Hearing Sciences): This service is available for trans students wanting gender-affirming voice training.  
 
Process: Contact the Speech, Language & Hearing Clinic office at (520) 621-7070 or email Andrea at acarrillo12@arizona.edu or Patsy at ppadilla23@arizona.edu and indicate that you are calling about voice services for gender affirmation with Janet L Hawley, ClinScD., CCC-SLP, and ask for the Transgender Voice Intake form. Once received, they will schedule the evaluation. 
 
Evaluation: Includes an interview to acquire information about your transition, your current communication behavior/needs and your goals. Also provides detailed assessment of voice and communication behaviors in order to establish a baseline and make specific recommendations for services. 
 
Treatment: Individual services are typically initiated at the conclusion of the evaluation and include a focus on voice and, as desired, other communication behaviors (non-verbal and verbal) to optimize a gender congruent presentation. A robust homework program is an integral part of these services to maximize treatment impact and efficiency in reaching goals in the home/community settings. These services are typically provided on a weekly basis, however scheduling can be modified, as needed, if personal factors or financial constraints influence once weekly sessions. When available, group services are another method of treatment which can provide excellent communication opportunities and psycho-social support. 
 
Prices: 
*Complete voice and communication evaluation (approx. 2 ½ to 3 hours) $300 
*Individual sessions (approx. 50-55 mins/typically weekly) $80 
*Group (approx. 50-55 mins/weekly) $40 
 
Insurance might be able to reimburse you for treatment. Talk to your insurance provider before treatment to confirm, and ask for itemized receipts to be reimbursed. 

Students may designate the pronouns they use to identify themselves. Instructors and staff are encourage to use the pronouns that people use for themselves as a sign of respect and inclusion.
