LGBTQ Affairs Continuing Events



1. Support Groups

LGBTQ Affairs provides support groups to people who need some support in their lives. Those include: 

LGBTQA+ Support Group
Tuesdays 4-5:30pm in the SUMC Room 412 (4th Floor Conference Room)

This is a safe space for UA students, faculty, and staff to talk in an open and supportive environment about issues impacting their lives and the LGBTQA+ and Allied community. 

Gender Spectrum Support Group
Mondays 3-4pm in the 3rd Floor Highland Commons, SE Corner

This is a support, therapy, and education group for UA students dealing with gender identity, gender dysphoria, and issues related to gender. There is a $5 a week charge, that can be billed to Bursar's

QPOC and Two-Spirit Discussion Group
Thursdays 5-6pm in African American Student Affairs (AASA)

This is a peer to peer discussion group that provides a safe environment  to connect, share experiences, and show support for each other.

2. Safe Zone Fall 2015 Workshop Schedule

Safe Zone is a campus-wide program committed to making The University of Arizona a safer, more welcoming, and inclusive environment for members of the lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer and questioning (LGBTQ) community. All workshops are free and open to the campus community.

Wildcat Student Employment Fair: Real World Ready Starts HERE!

Featuring hundreds of both campus and local part-time jobs for full-time students, the Wildcat Student Employment Fair is a one stop student job shop. UA Career Services sponsors this one-day event onWednesday, August 26th, 11am to 3pm in the Student Union Memorial Center third floor North ballroom.

2. Participate in a Research Study 

 
People are recruiting participants for a study examining the experiences of lesbian and bisexual women and their family relationships:

We are looking for lesbian or bisexual women (ages 18 and over) to participate in an online research study examining the influence of family relationships on sexual behavior and attitudes.  Participants will complete an online questionnaire that takes about 35 to 45 minutes. This questionnaire will ask about your teenage years, your life now, and your family relationship history.

This study has been reviewed and approved by The University of Arizona Human Subjects Protection Program. Participation in this research is voluntary and is not required to enter into the raffle, and you may withdraw from the study at any time. Your responses to this research are strictly confidential. Those who complete the survey will have the opportunity to be entered into a prize drawing to win one of two $25 Amazon gift cards.  Entries are limited to one per person, and participation is void where prohibited by law. Drawing takes place on January 22, 2016.

3. Internship at Kore Press 

 
Kore Press is pleased to announce openings for internships during the 2015-2016 school year, starting in the Fall. Attached is a basic description, but internships can be tailored to individual interests, areas of study, or specific projects in motion at the Press.
